Justice Anyone?

I know this is old, but at the time, I didn’t have a blog website so I want to address this situation because it has been bothering me ever since the news broke out that Muammar Gaddafi was killed.

Now I’m not going to lie, I’m all for governments that help their citizens by giving them what is rightfully theirs like affordable, if not, free healthcare, jobs, salaries that one can live on and financial assistance, especially when it’s a country in the Middle East where their country’s resources, like Gasoline, is depended on in our way of life.

With that being said, when you have the opposite of what’s expected by your government because you have a power hungry dictator as your Prime Minister, then it’s common to think that the citizens of that country are poor, starving and wish to end the Prime Ministers regime one way or the other.

Libya had been under Muammar Gaddafi’s rule since the end of the 60’s but he wasn’t at all the blood thirsty tyrant you saw on TV. As a matter of fact, when Gaddafi overthrew the King of Libya, he was just an army Colonel that led a bloodless coup by waiting until the king was in Turkey being treated medically. Now, I know what you’re going to say, “It was bloodless because the king wasn’t there,” well the Prince, who was next in line, was in Libya.

The King’s nephew, Prince Sayyid Hasan, was put under house arrest and from then on the Libyan Arab Republic was born. Under Gaddafi’s rule, he ordered Western Officials to increase Libya’s share in the Oil market revenue from 50% to 79% and if they didn’t agree, he’d shut down their companies in Libya’s oil fields. Western officials agreed to Libya’s demands and made the Libyan people richer. The country’s literacy rate also rose from 10% to 90%, life expectancy rose from 57 years of age to 77 and Libya’s black population and women’s rights have been made to establish their equality.

So how in the name of Allah can a man that was considered a hero back in his prime deserve the death he received by his own people? Well when you let the power and the money get to you, your judgment gets clouded like a natural high on Cloud 9. He ordered the deaths of Libyans that have left his state for other countries, even if they’ve left Libya for other countries in the Middle East. He even brought the deaths of Libya’s Berber nation and said that the Berber Tribe in Libya is a myth.

Libyans suffer through many atrocities and injustices, but then it got me thinking. Remember Iraq’s President by the name of Saddam Hussain? Both Saddam and Gaddafi almost shared the same history in their respective governments. However, where Gaddafi was killed, Saddam was caught and put to trail. But if you ask me, I think that Muammar, as bad as he was, should’ve been arrested and put to trial just like Saddam. I mean every man deserves a fair trial and is innocent until proven guilty right?

Well one thing’s for sure though, Gaddafi said he would never surrender and the only way they will take his leadership is over his dead body and that’s how it all went down in the end. If that’s not hardcore, I don’t know what is. This is Livin’ Large and you’ve been Largely Livin’.
